Bold & Beautiful: Cartier reinvents famous Tank watch

At a time when watches were round, Louis Cartier made the distinct aesthetic choice of using a rectangular shape for his new design in 1917. In doing so, the Tank, an avant-garde — and now iconic — timepiece was born.

The Tank watch also captures the zeitgeist in 2021, with its latest incarnation. Timeless, sure of itself and of the purity of its design, The Design Studio has reworked the aesthetic of the new Tank Must with monochrome colors and an original version based on a new photovoltaic movement. A Maison signature whose design and movements are continuously evolving, the Tank Must is driven by Cartier’s watchmaking commitment to constant innovation.

The Louis Cartier Tank, on the other hand, cultivates the design’s timeless elegance with color. An intense red and a bright blue highlight enhance the pure lines of the watch to this day.

Cartier has also added sophisticated details to these two precious versions, including Roman numerals and gold-colored “rail tracks,” which help enhance the dial’s graphic intensity.
