Mature, sophisticated styles will rule next year’s watch trends

But in this French watch brand’s book, classic timepieces can also look chic.

Much has been said about the French way of living and how it elevates everyday activities into pleasurable experiences, or turns simple objects into chic and covetable items. Indeed, it all comes naturally to a people famous for their fine wines, high fashion and impeccable art.

So when the French create a timepiece, expect it to have that certain je ne sais quoi, an intangible yet attractive quality that is difficult to resist.

Since 2001, Leonard Montres has been doing just that. Originally from France and established in Switzerland, Leonard Montres has been adorning men’s and women’s wrists with timepieces marked by their elegant styles and eye-catching colors. While the brand redefined its look, image and style in 2018, its quartz watches continue to reflect that French joie de vivre in modern designs inspired by art, fashion and that unmistakable French attitude.

“Leonard Montres is for those who seek uniqueness and enjoy being the focus of attention, those who like to do things their own way,” says Carollio Chow, managing director of Success Ever Timepieces Ltd., the official licensee of Leonard Montres in the Philippines, the brand is distributed by Wizer Industries and available at The Watch Store.

Watch trends for 2021

When it comes to watch trends in 2021, “mature and sophisticated” are the way to go, says Chow. “This is achieved by utilizing real diamonds together with mother-of-pearl dials, which blend in perfectly to create a fullness of color on the watch.”

Such details are enough to turn the most basic watch into a breathtaking accessory.  For the ladies, the Classic Circular features rose gold PVD plating, white mother-of-pearl dial, and delicate diamond studs. The gentlemen’s version, with its rose gold plating and ceramic white dial, is deceptively austere: On the caseback cover is “Autumn” by Hong Kong painter Patricia Doo, a vibrant artwork that reflects the passage of time.

As for La Mode Cushion, with its trademark round dial and square case, the ladies’ watch features a dramatic black mother-of-pearl dial with gold floral prints and diamond hour markers, while the gentlemen’s watch makes a striking statement with its PVD black plating (accented with hints of gold and red) and artwork by Patricia Doo on its caseback cover.

“I love its subtle elegance,” says Chow of La Mode Cushion, his favorite watch from the collection. “The square case and mesh strap are very vintage. But it will never go out of style because of the simple, classic design of the face.”

Upkeep for these things of beauty is minimal, given the thorough craftsmanship that goes into each and every watch. This includes a Swiss-approved polish, which makes the surface of the watch and its bracelet virtually scratch-resistant.

“You’ll also feel the excellent craftsmanship when you put it on your wrist, especially the mesh strap,” adds Chow. “You’ll notice that it sits comfortably and conforms to your wrist, which is not an easy feat for that type of material.” The watch’s uncomplicated strap exchange mechanism even allows owners to easily change their watch’s strap or bracelet themselves.

Apart from the occasional battery replacement (average 2-3 years), a Leonard Montres watch comes with a two-year international service warranty. Assures Chow, “They’re built to last.”
