The Manila Pen stages its annual Christmas concert on December 9

Back for its 35th year, The Peninsula Manila’s annual “Christmas Concert at The Pen” is here to welcome the holiday season. The musical extravaganza will be held on the 9th of December at the lobby, led by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under guest conductor Maestro Ruggero Barbieri.

“Our holiday musical program offers an opportunity for the public to enjoy music of the festive season by some of the world’s greatest composers like Vivaldi, Beethoven, Gounod, Rossini, Verdi, Bizet and Tchaikovsky,” says The Peninsula Manila general manager Mark J. Choon.

“Christmas Concert at The Pen” also doubles as a fundraiser for the “Hope for the Philippines” advocacy of the hotel, which benefits the education and livelihood projects of the families living in The Peninsula-Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Tanauan, Leyte. Concert proceedings will be partially donated to the said advocacy.

This heritage production headlines “Hamilton” star Christine Allado, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra,  the UST Singers and more. Meanwhile, Freddie Santos will serve as the concert director.

Allado had starred as Andrea Bocelli’s pop artist in his “Cinema World Tour” in Europe and Asia. She is currently in Hamilton: An American Musical in London’s West End playing the dual role of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds while covering lead Eliza Schuyler.

Also featured is soprano Rachelle Gerodias, recognized by Aliw Awards as a “Hall of Famer for Best Female Classical Performer” and tenor Arman Ferrer, a classical singer and a musical theater actor in his own right. His performance in the musical Binondo: A Tsinoy Musical earned him a 2017 Aliw Awards nomination for “Best Male Actor in a Musical.”

Guest artist Benjamin Angeles will also perform the Marimba Rhapsodic Fantasie and the Pundaquit Virtuosi, a string orchestra established by Coke Bolipata, which is composed of children of fisherfolk and farmers from the local community of San Antonio, Zambales.

The event is made possible by The Peninsula Manila’s partners such as the SSI Group, Inc. and Citibank, in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Lexus Philippines, which are the hotel’s co-sponsors.
